In line with the Institute for Palestine Studies interest in the question of energy and its geostrategic ramifications for the countries in the region and for the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Institute conducted three specialist workshops on this theme, the proceedings of which were published in Arabic language books.
The studies focused on the geostrategic challenges presented by Eastern Mediterranean gas deposits and dealt with the very latest data regarding gas reserves, production and marketing, in addition to the markets available for exporting it. These studies further encompassed the effect of the war in the Ukraine and the European boycott on Russian gas upon the prospects of exporting gas from other states, including states of the Eastern Mediterranean. They further embraced several other subjects including: the discovery and development of the gas field in the sea off Gaza; the agreement drawing up the maritime frontier between Lebanon and Israel; the proportion of gas in world energy by the middle of this century, and the future of oil in an age that seeks to end carbon emissions.
