Abstract: 

In this study, Professor Robert Pranger presents a U.S. point of view on developments in the Middle East since 1973. He also discusses U.S. strategy in the Middle East, how it has changed, and what options are open to the U.S. administration with regards to both the Palestinian cause and the security of the Arab Gulf.

Robert J. Pranger is Director of International Programs at the American Research Institute in Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Undersecretary of Defense for International security affairs during the Nixon era 1969-1971.
