Abstract:

The book presents a historical summary of the emigration of Palestinian populations to Europe, and argues that at present there is an emerging Palestinian diaspora in a complex developing status. It is an attempt to study the demographic and social traits of Palestinian communities in European countries, and probe elements of adjustment to new societies. The book also includes information about the statistics of Palestinians in Europe and offers ideas and visions relating to the state of Palestinian communities. It investigates patterns and causes of Palestinian emigration. The book is one of the few pioneer studies in the field of the history of Palestinian emigration and comprises thirteen contributions by researchers working in the realms of sociology, refugee studies and human rights.
