This book was born on the wake of a seminar organized by the Institute for Palestine Studies in Cyprus on February 25 and 26, 2011 under the title "Palestine: Lessons of the Past, Challenges of the Present and Strategies of the Future". It has eight chapters and an introduction. The seminar was attended by a number of political researchers and analysts who live in Palestine, within its historical borders, and beyond. It addressed many issues mainly: The relationship between the Palestinians living inside Palestine and the Diaspora before and after Oslo; the relationship between the Palestinians living inside Palestine and the Diaspora and the manifestations of identity; Israeli expansionist policies and how to confront them; historical forms of Palestinian resistance and efforts to develop new and appropriate forms; assessment of the negotiations experience in order to devise a new vision; the crisis of the Palestinian political system; internal relations and discussion of ways of representation; and the prospects of Palestinian reconciliation given the exposure of the Palestinian arena to external interventions. Throughout its chapters, the book suggests strategies to face exceptional Palestinian and Arab circumstances.
