Palestinian Serials Published in Lebanon 1948-2014: A Bibliographical Study


This study aimed to document the Palestinian periodicals, which comprise newspapers, magazines, reports, and yearbooks, that were published in Lebanon since 1948 till present time according to statistical and measurement analysis. These periodicals provide users with specific factual details that might not be available in other sources. The first part studied the emergence of these periodicals, determining its dates of appearance, numbers, categories, frequencies, changes, age average, general characteristics, issuing bodies and locations. As for the Bibliography, it is thorough in its coverage, with comprehensive and standard description including most editorials of first issues that we were able to find.

About the Author(s)

Ahmad TALEB, holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences from Denver University, U.S.A. He served as a librarian at the Library of the Faculty of Law, Political and Administrative Sciences of the Lebanese University (1973-1978). He also joined the Faculty of Information and Documentation at the Lebanese University as a professor of Library and Information Sciences (1978-1988), and served as a consultant at the agricultural Documentation and Learning Resources Center in Sana‘a, Yemen (1988-1990). He joined the libraries at the American University of Beirut as head of Cataloging Department (1991-2005), and joined the Lebanese American University as a Library consultant (2005-2013). He taught Library and Information Sciences at Beirut Arab University (2005-2011), and participated in dozens of conferences about Library and Information Sciences and has several published studies and contributions.
